Back to the Basics on Blackjack Rules
The objective of blackjack is to gather cards with total points of 21 but remember not to go over 21 or else you are busted and you automatically lose the game. Those cards with 10 points are the face cards while the ace card can either be 1 point or 11 points. Card numbers are represented by the number itself.
Players of blackjack must beat the dealer's hands. A blackjack table can seat around 6 players; you can play with a maximum number of players or just one-on-one with the dealer. In each game you can play with six or eight decks of cards, all of those decks are shuffled together and will be placed in the box called the "Shoe".
The first thing that players must do is place their bet on the table before they can receive their cards. The dealer will deal each player with two cards facing upward. The dealer will deal his own cards, one facing upward and the other one facing downward.
On each player's turn they will have a choice to either take more cards or stay with the ones they have. If player has 21 it is called blackjack. The one holding blackjack is the winner; players who have cards higher than the dealer will be paid accordingly, while players with cards lower than the dealer will lose.
In blackjack there are many options that player can choose to do like Double Down, Split, Take Insurance, Even Money and Surrender.
The following are some brief explanation regarding the different options in blackjack:
Double Down:
This means that the player has to double his or her first bet but following the first two-card deal. Players can only hit once with one card only. If the player is in a strong position with strong hands he should bet.
Split:
Splitting means that the first two-card hands are being split into two and then play the cards separately. But players are only allowed to do this when the first two-dealt cards are of the same value. Players can use the two cards separately and then the player has to bet on his or her second bet equal with his or her first bet.
Taking Insurance:
This is kind of a side bet where the players have to bet half their bet as opposed to the dealer. But taking insurance can only be done if the displayed card of the dealer is an Ace.
Even Money:
This means that players are cashing out their bet instantly at 1:1 ratio in payout.
Surrender:
In surrender there two kinds; the early surrender and the late surrender. Early surrender means that players are permitted to surrender this is before the dealer checks their down card for blackjack. Late surrender means that the dealer already checks the cards for blackjack. But if the dealer has blackjack surrender is not allowed to continue.
